After his first year at Hogwarts, Harry spends the summer at the Dursleys' house, setting the scene for the narrative. Dobby, a house elf, warns him of the perils he would encounter if he goes back to Hogwarts. Dobby tries to stop Harry, but he returns to school anyhow.
