The story takes place in a future Earth that has become unsuitable for people due to abandonment and rubbish buildup. A tiny robot named Wall·E is left behind to tidy up the mess—a waste-collecting robot. He eventually takes on a personality of his own and grows observant about the surroundings. Among the things he finds interesting to collect and hold onto is a little plant.
