The majority of humanity was wiped out by Skynet in 2018, and those who survived have been sheltering underground from an army of robots known as "Terminators". The only person alive after a botched assault on a Skynet base is John Connor, the man destined to lead the Resistance. Conversely, Connor believes that Kyle Reese was sent from the future to assassinate Marcus Wright, who only remembers being on death row, when they first meet. Now, in an odd alliance, Marcus and John must work together to rescue Kyle Reese and the humans the machines have taken hostage.
