The protagonist of the tale is 12-year-old Dre Parker, who relocates to Beijing with his mother after receiving a job relocation. Dre encounters difficulties as he adjusts to a new culture, especially when it comes to handling bullies at his new school. Cheng (Zhenwei Wang), a talented kung fu student, is the main adversary and he torments and harasses Dre.
