The narrative starts with Marty McFly, a teenage boy from Hill Valley, California, who befriends Dr. Emmett Brown, an eccentric scientist. Marty sees Doc's newest creation, a DeLorean automobile that can travel through time. Marty inadvertently time-travels to 1955 through a sequence of circumstances, where he meets a younger version of his parents. Marty needs to figure out how to guarantee his parents' affection and maintain his own life. He gets assistance from the younger Doc Brown along the way.
