The impact of the media on our lives, reality, and free choice are all explored in the film. Everything in Truman's world, including his friends and family, is a well constructed fake setting, and everyone is an actor. Every detail of Truman's life is aired to a worldwide audience around-the-clock, and the entire town of Seahaven Island is a vast set encased in a gigantic dome. But as Truman starts to see oddities and contradictions in his otherwise flawless life, he starts to doubt whether he really exists at all.
