As the film opens, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is trying to manage his duties as a college student with his life as Spider-Man. Notwithstanding his assurance to Gwen's father, Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary), that he would keep her safe, he keeps dating Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).
