The movie is based on the real tale of Jordan Belfort, a young and driven stockbroker who founded the brokerage business Stratton Oakmont in the 1980s and 1990s. To increase their money, Belfort and his business associate Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill) take engaged in immoral and unlawful actions. They scam investors, get entangled in pump-and-dump operations, and lead opulent lives full of drugs, wild parties, and vices.
