The narrative starts with the assassination of Jacques Saunière, the curator of the Paris-based Louvre Museum. Saunière provides a number of enigmatic hints at the crime site before passing away. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is brought in to assist in solving the puzzle of the curator's death.
