The narrative takes place in a dystopian wasteland where society has disintegrated and resources are few. Tom Hardy, who replaces Mel Gibson in this movie, plays Max Rockatansky, a former police officer who is troubled by his past. Max is taken prisoner by the War Boys, a militia loyal to the despotic warlord Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne).
