In the distant future, when famine and environmental catastrophes are common, Matthew McConaughey's character Joseph Cooper (in "Interstellar") is a former NASA pilot who now farms. Cooper stumbles onto the wreckage of NASA, which has discovered a wormhole around Saturn. There is hope for human survival because the wormhole gives access to possibly livable planets in other galaxies.
