The protagonist of the tale is Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan), a former amateur wrestler who aspires to represent India in the gold medal tournament. After realizing he can't live out his own dream, Mahavir trains his daughters to be professional wrestlers. He challenges conventional notions and breaks gender stereotypes by coaching his daughters Geeta and Babita in defiance of society standards and criticism from others.
